3018 and 3114 sign an agreement to step up support for young people facing harassment, cyberbullying and psychological distress

The Association e-Enfance / 3018 and 3114, the national suicide prevention number, sign a partnership agreement to strengthen coordination between the players involved in supporting young people facing complex situations, at the crossroads of harassment, cyber-bullying and psychological suffering.

This agreement responds to an increasingly worrying reality on the ground Digital violence and bullying can have a profound impact on the mental health of children and teenagers. Anxiety, isolation, loss of self-esteem, depressive disorders, self-mutilation or suicidal thoughts: the situations supported by 3018 show every day the extent to which this violence can weaken the young victims.

Harassment and cyberbullying: violence with major consequences

Cyberbullying has particularly destructive characteristics. It can be permanent, viral and public. Unlike other forms of violence, it does not necessarily stop when the victim returns home or leaves a given location.

Content can be circulated, repeated and accumulated, exposing young people to ongoing humiliation. For some victims, the violence doesn't stop when the phone goes dead It continues in our thoughts, in our relationships with others, in our self-esteem and sometimes even in our suicidal thoughts.

Against this backdrop, it is essential to identify risk situations more effectively and direct young people to the right people at the right time.

An agreement to avoid gaps in care

In the field, 3018 and 3114 regularly work with the same young people, at different points in the same trajectory of psychological suffering.

The 3018, operated by the Association e-Enfance, is a free national number dedicated to young victims, witnesses or perpetrators, their parents and professionals on issues of digital harassment and violence. It offers psychological, legal and technical support, available 7 days a week from 9am to 11pm.

The 3114 is the free, confidential national suicide prevention helpline. Available 24/7 throughout France, it is managed by Lille University Hospital as part of the national health strategy.

The agreement signed between the two services aims to ensure better continuity of support in the most critical situations. It will facilitate exchanges between the teams, make it easier to direct young people to the service best suited to their situation, and avoid gaps in care.

Four areas of cooperation

This partnership formalises cooperation around four main areas:

Reinforcing inter-team knowledge
The 3018 and 3114 teams will be able to gain a better understanding of the specific features, methods of intervention and areas of expertise of each scheme.

Smoothing out support pathways
The agreement facilitates the referral of young people to the service best suited to their situation, particularly when digital violence is accompanied by significant psychological distress or a risk of suicide.

Sharing signals and emerging trends
The two systems will be able to better identify high-risk phenomena, particularly those observed on social networks, in order to anticipate certain situations and improve the response provided to young people.

Working together to promote prevention
3018 and 3114 also want to help raise public awareness more widely, particularly as part of suicide prevention month, Yellow September, to encourage people to speak out and seek help.

Combining digital and clinical expertise

3018 brings its expertise in harassment, cyberbullying, digital violence, social networks, viral mechanisms and reporting procedures to the platforms.

3114 provides clinical, psychiatric and suicidological expertise in the assessment and management of psychological distress and suicidal risk.

By combining these two areas of expertise, this agreement should make it easier to spot the signs of seriousness, intervene earlier and guide young people more effectively towards the response best suited to their situation.

No young person should be left alone in a situation of distress

Through this partnership, the Association e-Enfance / 3018 and 3114 are affirming a shared conviction: better cooperation means better protection.

In a digital environment where situations can change rapidly, this alliance sends a clear message to young people, families and professionals: solutions exist, teams are available to listen, and no young person should be left alone to deal with harassment, cyberbullying or psychological distress.

When 3018 and 3114 work together, it's not just a question of better moderation, listening or guidance. Sometimes it's about protecting a life.
