The Déclic Workshops
Supporting expectant parents and parents of children aged 0 to 6 in their relationship with screens
Supporting parents of children aged 0–6 in their use of screens
Screens become part of children’s lives much earlier than we realise.
From the age of 2, children spend an average of 1 hour a day in front of a screen ¹. Their very first unsupervised steps online, however, take place at around 5 years and 10 months ². At the same time, 72 % of parents say they lack information on the real impact of digital technology on their child’s development ³.
The situation is clear: young children’s entry into the digital world is a major issue, and parents are often left to deal with their concerns on their own.
A practical solution, designed with families in mind.
The e-Enfance / 3018 Association and the Fondation pour l’Enfance, in partnership with the French Association for Outpatient Paediatrics, have set up The Déclic Workshops to provide expectant parents, new parents, grandparents and anyone else concerned with the tools they need to ensure screen use is appropriate for their household.
No lectures, no guilt-tripping: clear guidelines, practical discussions and realistic solutions that you can put into practice the very next day.
Who is it for? Where?
The Ateliers Déclic are set up where families are:
- In the workplace, amongst your staff, parents of young children and grandparents.
- In terms of structure : crèches, nursery schools, community centres, maternal and child health centres (PMI) and any other facilities catering for young children and their parents.
Objectives of the scheme
- Inform parents on child development and children’s needs, to help them better understand the effects of screen exposure and screen use.
- Share tips and best practices for sensible use, tailored to each family’s circumstances.
The sequence of events
A dynamic workshop, based on collective intelligence, structured in three stages:
- Introduction (approx. 30 mins) : understand the issues at stake and discover, through videos, the seven fundamental needs of children.
- The game (approx. 1 hour) : at the heart of the workshop, a team-based activity designed to explore everyday family situations and provide a practical way of assessing the impact of screen time on a child’s development.
- Solutions and commitments (approx. 30 mins) : to come away with simple, realistic solutions.
3 reasons to roll out Déclic Workshops in your company
