To combat this type of violence, Orange has just announced theThe launch of «Safe Zone» on Fortnite, and soon Roblox and Minecraft, very popular with young people.
While video games can be an excellent tool for developing curiosity and team spirit in young people, online gaming also carries risks. In virtual, open worlds where players can interact with each other, it is not uncommon to see certain types of abuse (bullying, verbal abuse, insulting messages, etc.).
These «Safe Zones» are spaces directly embedded within video games, with the following objectives:
- make available a educational space in which players can win rewards by taking a quiz on the right reflexes to have when faced with digital dangers
- put a player in contact, if they express the need, with specialists in cyberbullying, within a trusted and secure environment. For France, the telephone number and the 3018 application are therefore recommended for players.
As a reminder, 3018 is the national, free, anonymous and confidential number to support children, teenagers and parents with all questions related to young people's digital usage.
