One in two teenagers has already been exposed to online pornography.

While the French Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) took legal action last March (1) to order internet service providers to block access to five pornographic content hosts (Pornhub, Tukif, Xhamster, Xvideos, and Xnxx) do not protect minors, an Ifop survey commissioned by researchers at LMU University in Munich confirms the high exposure of adolescents to online pornography.

  • Half of them (51%) have already been exposed to online pornography, and 41% of them visit porn sites every month on average, and often more frequently.
  • They are 31% to have visited one of these eight sites : Pornhub, Xhamster, Xnxx, Tukif, Jacquieetmichel, Jacquieetmicheltv, and Jacquieetmicheltv2. The same proportion of respondents admitted to visiting other porn sites.,
  • and 30% were exposed to explicit content on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, etc.)
  • The median duration of their consumption of pornographic content is 30 minutes per month.

(1) In the wake of the summary proceedings brought by the‘The e-Enfance Association and La Voix de l’Enfant (The Voice of the Child) Internet service providers in order to to block major pornographic websites, allowing minors to access their content

A hearing date has been set for 24 May. If Arcom's request is successful, access to the websites in question will be blocked in France.
