New tools to raise awareness amongst secondary school pupils, with the support of GMF

Digital habits are playing an increasingly important role in young people’s daily lives. Screen time, constant connectivity, online risks… From the moment they start secondary school, young people may find themselves facing complex situations.

To help them better understand these issues and develop the right habits, the e-Enfance / 3018 Association, with the support of GMF, is stepping up its prevention initiatives for Year 6 and Year 7 pupils through a new educational module and a booklet dedicated to digital usage.

A new teaching module to discuss digital usage in secondary schools

Nowadays, young people are accessing social media and messaging apps at an increasingly early age. To keep pace with changes in their behaviour, the Association has developed, with the support of GMF, a new awareness programme aimed at secondary school pupils.

Used during the Association’s school-based initiatives, this module addresses a number of issues that teenagers may face in their digital lives:

  • cyberbullying
  • hyperconnectivity
  • the development of critical thinking
  • discrimination
  • a better understanding of algorithms

The aim is to go beyond simply imparting knowledge. Through participatory workshops, role-plays and games, pupils are encouraged to reflect on their own behaviour. They also develop the skills to recognise a problematic situation and know how to respond.

As pointed out by Samuel Comblez, a child and adolescent psychologist and Deputy Director-General of the Association:

«Young people already know a great deal about digital technology. Our role is to build on their existing knowledge to open up a dialogue, develop their critical thinking and provide them with practical guidance on how to take action.»

«As an insurer, we firmly believe that prevention is the best way to deal with risks. Together with the e-Enfance / 3018 Association, GMF is raising awareness amongst young people and their families to help them develop the right habits and to protecting yourself from cyberbullying. »
Daniel Dréan, Director of Marketing, Communications and Partnerships at GMF

An educational booklet distributed to more than 5,000 secondary school pupils

To maintain awareness following the sessions, an educational booklet on digital usage has also been produced.

Already distributed to more than 5,000 pupils in Years 6 and 7 and available free of charge on the Association’s website, it enables young people to revise the concepts covered during the workshops, test their knowledge and access the 3018 resources.

This guide is designed to provide teenagers with simple, accessible guidelines that they can put into practice in their everyday digital lives.

GMF and the e-Enfance Association / 3018 committed to child protection

Since 2024, GMF has been supporting the e-Enfance / 3018 Association in its efforts to prevent harm to and protect minors online. Through this sponsorship, the two partners share a common goal: to enable young people to navigate the digital world in a more informed, responsible and secure manner.
