On average, more than one pupil per class is a victim of bullying, according to a survey by the Ministry of Education and Youth.

The Ministry of National Education and Youth has just published the results of a survey conducted last November among 7.5 million pupils from Year 5 to Year 13 in more than 38,000 schools.

If we are to believe these results, harassment affects 51 TP3Ts for pupils in years 3 to 5, 61 TP3Ts for secondary school pupils and 41 TP3Ts for sixth form pupils., which means that on average there are more than one pupil bullied in class.

The survey also showed that many pupils must be subject to increased vigilance in view of the risk of harassment, including 19 % for pupils in Years 3 to 5. And 6 % of secondary school pupils, 5 % of sixth form pupils.

The 3018 number against harassment

In this context, the 3018 is confirmed as the single issue which makes it easier to detect signs of harassment and take action by reporting incidents and having harmful content removed when it comes to online harassment.

Today, 3 out of 10 primary school pupils and half of secondary school pupils know the number. This information should be circulated so that offer a listening and support solution to as many people as possible.

In response to the findings of this survey, the Government announced several measures to better identify situations of risk: an annual barometer, in-depth investigations in a class when a situation of risk is detected, with the lifting of anonymity and specific attention to primary schools where the risks are higher. It also strengthened training programmes for the educational community, as well as for parents and pupils. Finally, systematic sanctions are being considered for the most serious situations.
