Justine Atlan was Raphaël Delvolvé's guest on Europe Soir, on Europe 1, following the publication of the new Annual report dedicated to children's rights of the Human Rights Defender. This year's theme: the right to privacy.
The protection of the child's private life in the digital world is a particularly important issue today. And the role of parents in this area is crucial.
On the issue of implementing the parental control, Justine Atlan observes: «Parental controls are difficult for parents to master and widespread. It remains something that requires a certain level of digital literacy.»
She also mentioned the children's image rights and risky practices of certain parents when they publish photos of their children without their consent on social media, a practice known as «sharenting».
«Children also have a right to privacy. (...) It is somewhat inconsiderate to share photos of such a young child on social media. It is important to remember that your child is a person and you cannot do whatever you want with them.»
And, in general «There is a very important issue today of teaching children what image rights are, to respect their image rights and to assert them, but also to teach them to respect those of others.»
The emergence of new anti-wave pouches for children and pouches for parents to better regulate their children's screen time was also mentioned.
