Xbox One Parental Controls

You may not know this, but Microsoft offers tools to help you control and monitor your children's activities on Xbox One. This allows you to protect them when they play online in multiplayer mode with friends, manage the time they spend playing each day, and restrict their access to inappropriate and paid content.

To keep an eye on your children during their wild gaming sessions, configure the various parental controls available on Xbox One.

Create and link a child account to your Xbox One

Before you can activate the various parental controls, you must first create a Microsoft profile for your child (if they do not already have one) and link it to your account via Microsoft's My Family service. To do this, follow these steps:

On the computer:

– If your child does not yet have a Microsoft account, create one for them.

– Next, log in to your Microsoft account and go to the My Family section.

– Click on Add a member.

– Select Child, enter the e-mail address you have just created for them, and click Send Invitation.

Access to content

You can ensure that your children watch content and play games that are appropriate for their age by setting content restrictions. With content restrictions, you control their access to mature games, films, TV programmes, and music. Set an age limit for content on Xbox One to keep your children safe.

Web filtering

Web filtering allows you to determine the type of websites your child is allowed to view online. You can block or approve websites and online content to protect your child from mature websites and search results. To learn more about using web filtering, see Blocking inappropriate websites on your Xbox One console.

Purchase approval

Use the «Ask a Parent» feature on Xbox One to require your approval for items your child wants to purchase from the Microsoft Store. To enable it:

– Press the key Xbox to open the guide.

– Access System > Settings > Account.

– Select Parental control Managing family members, select the account of the child whose settings you wish to change.

– Select Online privacy and security > Xbox Live Privacy Policy > View details and customise.

– Select Purchase and download, then select Enabled in the area Ask a parent.
