Lockdown has led to the return of Chatroulette (and that's all we needed). Created in 2009 by a 17-year-old student in Moscow, Chatroulette exploded in popularity in the early 2010s. At the time, social media wasn't as widespread as it is today, and the site offered an intriguing window onto the world – or rather, the people of this world – that few could resist opening. It was easy to log on, regardless of age, turn on your webcam and switch from one user to another with nothing more than a quick click. You would come across Dutch, American and Russian people. And then penises. Lots of penises. It seems that any online exposure attracts exhibitionists in need of an audience.
