To help your teenager navigate Instagram safely, The Meta Group has developed various security features that are grouped together in the Family Centre.
The Instagram Family Centre enables you to:
- Limit the time spent on the platform
- Schedule time slots during which the teenager will not be able to use the application.
- View time spent
- Manage account privacy
How do I activate parental supervision on Instagram?
- Go to your profile
- At the top right, press the menu at the top right.
- Select Settings and Privacy
- Press Parental Supervision
- Press Start
- You can then choose your teenager's account and select “Invite”. They will have 48 hours to accept the invitation.

Instagram has also implemented a «Late Notification» feature since January 2024. Any account set up as a minor will now automatically receive a notification between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. after 10 minutes of use on the platform.
