Discord offers certain parental control features to help parents supervise their children's activity. The platform has set up the “Family Centre”, which explains to parents how Discord works.

What does the Discord Family Centre offer?

  • Age verification: Discord offers features tailored to the declared age.
  • Restricting direct messages: you can disable direct messages from users who are not on your child's friends list.
  • Explicit content filtering
  • Private server restrictions: You can restrict your child's participation in private servers by verifying their age or only allowing invitations from friends.
  • Privacy settings: Discord offers privacy settings that allow you to control who can see different information on your child's profile.

How do I enable parental controls on Discord?

  • Both the teenager and the adult supervisor must each have an account on Discord.
  • In the application, click on «Settings».»
  • Then on «Family Centre»
  • Scan the QR code from your teenager's account to send a pairing request.
  • Your child must then accept the request from their account.
