To mark Safer Internet Day, TikTok and the e-Enfance Association are offering a guide for parents.

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day will celebrate its 15th anniversary on 11 February. This annual international event aims to promote a safer internet for young people by encouraging responsible behaviour. The event is organised around the European Insafe network, which operates in 31 countries across Europe.

The e-Enfance association, a member of the consortium Safer Internet Day France, has joined forces with TikTok to raise awareness among young people and their families of good digital practices, to ensure that their online experience is safe and under their control.

The TikTok guide, developed with e-Enfance, for parents, for an educational approach to the platform.

To initiate a dialogue between parents and teenagers, TikTok advocates an educational approach with the drafting of a guide TikTok for parents, produced in partnership with e-Childhood.

The guide, designed as a step-by-step guide, enables parents to easily understand the platform. TikTok, understand how it works, master its codes, and review the various security and privacy settings available to users. Parents actively accompany their children in their online experience.

 This guide includes:
–   An explanation of what TikTok is and how to create an account; ;
–   The first tips for creating and posting a video; ;
–   An overview of all the security and privacy settings available to ensure a safe environment and positive experience for users, especially younger ones.

 This guide, developed with e-Childhood, also emphasises the reflexes and attitudes to adopt in cases of cyberbullying or exposure to content deemed inappropriate.

 e-Enfance and its national helpline Net Ecoute.fr 3018* are available Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm (6pm on Saturdays) to listen, advise and assist young people and their families with reporting issues relating to their digital lives.
