What is Safer Internet Day?
The Safer Internet Day is the global day dedicated to promoting a safer and more responsible Internet for young people. Initiated by the European Commission in 2004, Safer Internet Day now mobilises millions of participants in over 30 countries every year on the second Tuesday in February.
In France, the event is organised by Safer Internet France on behalf of the European Better Internet for Kids+ programme.
The aim of Safer Internet Day is clear: to raise awareness of responsible digital use and protect minors from online risks.
The consortium brings together the Association e-Enfance / 3018, Internet Sans Crainte and Point de Contact.
Together, we are taking action to :
- raising young people's awareness responsible use of digital technology,
- supporting families facing up to the challenges of screens,
- protecting minors online risks (cyber-bullying, inappropriate content, scams, misinformation, etc.).
At European level, this programme is based on two complementary action networks, both committed to the same objective: raising awareness and protecting minors on the Internet.
Insafe :
supports young people and education professionals in preventing risks and promoting positive uses of digital technology, as well as helplines to help young people and their families deal with digital issues. The 3018 is part of this network.
INHOPE :
coordinates the national hotlines in each country.
