Libération – Véronique Béchu warns, “Infants and very young children are easy targets for paedophiles.”

Several cases of sexual violence against very young children, such as Armand (aged 3) and Lucie (aged 4), who were abused by their nannies or babysitters, highlight the extreme vulnerability of young children and the difficulty for families to detect abuse.

For Véronique Béchu, director of the Observatory of Digital Violence Against Minors at e-Enfance, the age of victims is tending to decrease, and babies are increasingly affected, with a significant proportion of content produced involving minors under the age of 3. She points out that these children, who are totally dependent and Unable to protect themselves, they become easy targets for paedophile criminals.

She also emphasises that psychological trauma toddlers are fine actual, even without physical injuries. Sleep disorders, hypersexualised behaviour or eating difficulties are all tell-tale signs of violence that adults must learn to recognise.

His speech highlights the need for increased vigilance and a specialised training professionals to detect and protect the youngest victims, who are often invisible and silent.
