Justine Atlan on the programme Zone interdite, devoted to the impact of screens on young people's mental health

On 22 September, the following was broadcast on M6 the programme Restricted Area. A special edition dedicated to’impact of screens and social media on the smental health of young people.

Several alarming figures were revealed during the programme: 40% of adolescents who scroll for more than 5 hours a day, develop signs of depression and One in two young people suffers from anxiety or depressive symptoms.

On this occasion, Justine Atlan, The Association's Chief Executive Officer was interviewed and once again emphasised the need to implement a age verification on social media, in order to protect minors online.

«Minors are treated like adults online [...] no one can recognise and identify them, so no one can provide them with the means of protection that have been developed for them,» she explains.

She also made a comparison between age verification on social media and the’access to casinos, where identification is required.
