Facebook: changes to the terms of service

The social network is updating its rules of use. The aim? To silence regular criticism of controversial cases. Violence, hate speech, glorification of terrorism... What is the situation?

The rules are similar, but clearer. This update is simply a way to provide more information about how moderators work at Facebook. The rules are now divided into four sections: Online violence – Mutual respect – Protection of intellectual property – Account security.

New categories have also appeared: «dangerous organisations», «attacks on public figures», «criminal activity» and «sexual violence and exploitation».

The social network took the opportunity to publish its report on government requests for user data for the second half of 2014, which shows a slight increase, with 35,051 requests compared to 34,946 from January to June. The number of blocked content, on the other hand, jumped by 111%, from 8,774 to 9,707 cases.
