The site Teenagers' meeting is at the heart of a controversy for several days. Intended for 13-25 year olds , This site enables minors and adults to interact and discuss, but often changes in a nest sexually explicit messages for young teenage girls who enrol.
Justine Atlan, Chief Executive Officer of the Association and 3018, was live on Europe 1 to respond to this topic and address the issue of verification of’age on the internet and the importance of moderation online.
She explains: «What can happen on this site can unfortunately happen on any other social network... The ultimate recommendation once again is to be able to identify a minor on the Internet. We cannot protect a section of the population if we cannot identify it. Today, minors are slipping through our fingers., sometimes they lie about their age, or impersonate another person.”
For Justine Atlan, it would be necessary for all adults declare their majority in one way or another, those who do not do so being declared as minors by default which would then enable them to be identified and supervise.
She also questions the issue of moderation of this site:
“How can we still have a site open for over 15 years who still does not have moderation system commensurate with its traffic ? Today moderation is the key to online communication, combating online hate speech, and cyberbullying... »
