Last month, Lindsay, a teenager from 13 years old has committed suicide following bullying and at cyberbullying which she had been enduring for several months.
Samuel Comblez, Director of Operations at the e-Enfance/3018 Association and Child and Adolescent Psychologist, was present on the set of CNEWS to discuss the important role of witnesses in cases of harassment.
He explains that today the « Harassment is everywhere in young people's lives. » and emphasises a « collective awareness» by all adults and parents in schools, but also in sports and leisure activities.
He adds: «When you hear a victim's testimony, and with all the violence we have heard today, I think we must feel systematically responsible for getting things done.”
He also points out that in Lindsay's case, where the harassment a takes the victim to get commit suicide, the perpetrators may be punished with 10 years' imprisonment and €150,000 fine.
