The MILDECA (Interministerial Mission for Combating Drugs and Addictive Behaviours) recently published the results of the fourth edition of the Barometer on screen usage and the associated issues, with a section dedicated to the place of screens in children and adolescents.
Strong demand for screen regulation for young children
Firstly, we note that a majority of French people are calling for more regulation on screen use for younger children:
84% the French would be willing to refrain from purchasing a mobile phone to a child before the age of 11 (with or without internet access), 73% support the idea of banning les social media before the age of 15 years old and 90% are favourable at the’screen ban in structures dedicated to early childhood.

This barometer also highlights the issues of «disconnection», 1 in 2 users feels difficulties to stop one's digital activities.
The French are also aware that they are passing away. spending too much time on their screens, especially for watch videos: 36% even consider that their practice is excessive and 42% spend more time there than they had planned during their day.
