YouTube improves content management with four measures
- rapid removal of content
- reduction in the spread of content
- promoting reliable and authoritative sources for news,
- remuneration for trusted artists and creators.
On YouTube, the harassment is harmful to everyone because internet users are less inclined to share their opinions and interact with each other.
YouTube has updated its community guidelines to better combat harassment on its platform. The changes are structured around three main areas.
Greater firmness in the face of threats and personal attacks
YouTube automatically removes videos:
- that explicitly threaten someone, reveal personal and confidential information, or incite others to harass someone else,
- including veiled or implicit threats
- which simulate an act of violence against a person
- with lyrics that suggest that an act of physical violence could occur are included,
- containing incitement to hatred
- who humiliate people because of their ethnic origin, gender identity or sexual orientation.
This rule applies to everyone, including private individuals, YouTube creators, and officials.
No individual should be subjected to harassment that suggests violence.
Increased penalties for repeated malicious behaviour
YouTube will take into account harassment that sometimes takes the form of repeated inappropriate behaviour across multiple videos or comments, even though each video taken separately does not violate the rules.
Risk incurred:
– Channel suspension
– Elimination of revenue generated by the channel
Combating abusive comments
The comments section is often a place where harassment occurs. This type of behaviour not only has a detrimental effect on the person being harassed, but can also have a negative impact on the conversation as a whole.
To remedy this situation, comments that clearly violate the rules are deleted.
In addition, YouTube provides creators with tools to better manage their conversations and control comments that appear to be potentially inappropriate.
All these changes are designed to better protect the YouTube community and effectively tackle the scourge of cyberbullying in a sustainable manner.
