Femme Actuelle – Masculinist content on social media: e-Enfance warns of a worrying phenomenon

In an article published by Contemporary Woman, the Association e-Childhood / 3018 warning about the high exposure of teenagers, especially boys, to masculinist and virilist content on social media. These anti-feminist discourses, which are very prevalent on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, shape representations and profoundly influence young people's identity formation.

The Association emphasises how these models, based on stereotypical masculinity and performance, can generate guilt, anxiety and emotional withdrawal among adolescents. Educational and emotional support is essential to help them maintain a critical mindset and express their emotions without fear of judgement.

«We need to support these boys who are trapped in a form of superficial masculinity, where there is a lot of pressure to perform and a lot of anxiety,» says Samuel Comblez, psychologist and Deputy Director General of the e-Enfance / 3018 Association.

The e-Enfance Association /3018 continues its mission of digital prevention and education, by alerting people to online content that could have a lasting influence on young audiences.
