For 30% secondary school pupils, getting up in the morning is extremely difficult. Going to bed later and later and sleep deprivation mean that 23% of them are sleepy in class.
The issue is the amount of time spent in front of screens in the evening, before bedtime, which has been increasing among 11- to 14-year-olds since smartphones became widespread.
33.51% of teenagers spend more than an hour on a screen after dinner (and half of them more than 2 hours), 15.1% send text messages during the night and 11.1% log on to social media.
On the occasion of the 15th Journée du Sommeil® (Sleep Day) on Friday 27 March, Réseau Morphée, a health network dedicated to the treatment of sleep disorders, will present the results of a study* conducted during the 2013-2014 school year on secondary school pupils' sleep patterns.
