Samuel Comblez was invited to appear on Brigitte Lahaie's programme on Sud Radio to discuss bullying at school and on social media. When asked about the situations most commonly dealt with by 3018, he replied:
«Approximately half of the calls received on 3018 concern situations of cyberbullying, in all its forms: messages, videos, photos, blackmail and even new phenomena which we are hearing more and more about as the «happy slapping »a practice that involves filming the physical assault of a stranger and then posting it on social media.»
He also mentions the speed at which content is shared on the internet: «As we know, in the digital sphere, the longer we wait, the more content will be disseminated, hence the importance of acting very quickly. Thanks to the trust agreements we have with social media networks, 3018 can have offensive content removed.»
In order to avoid this type of situation as much as possible, he emphasises the importance of role of parents in digital education When parents are asked how they teach their children to use social media and what rules they give them to protect themselves and others, it is surprising to realise that they do not teach them this.«
