TikTok and Snapchat concentrate half of the time spent online by teenagers
Social media captivates young people like never before. According to the’Online Platform Observatory, published by the’Arcom (Authority for the Regulation of Audiovisual and Digital Communication) On 8 November, the 12–17 years old spend on average 116 hours per month on the internet, or nearly four hours a day.
Furthermore, the data shows that TikTok and Snapchat concentrate solely on half of the time spent online by teenagers (12–17 years old), with an impressive average of 40 hours per month on TikTok, closely followed by Snapchat. At the same time, YouTube remains one of the young people's favourite platforms, attractive 4.8 million unique visitors each month.
Access to pornography trivialised among adolescents
Even more worrying, 33% teenagers consult cevery month websites pornographic, mainly Pornhub. This is despite the law of July 2020. which imposes mandatory age verification for access to these content.
