SID2016: AFPI publishes comic strip on sextortion

To mark Safer Internet Day 2016, the AFPI is publishing its third comic strip on the theme of sextortion. This crime – which involves secretly filming a naked person and then extorting money or services from them under threat of the content (film, photo) being posted on the Internet – affects a large number of Internet users around the world, with teenagers being an easy target...

Beyond raising awareness – people behave online just as they do offline, so exposing yourself naked in front of your webcam is just as dangerous as doing so anywhere else in front of strangers – here are three important tips for victims of sextortion:

– Cease all contact with the blackmailer.

– Talk to someone you trust (parent, friend, authority figure, etc.)

– Report blackmail messages
