Initiated following the attacks in January 2015, the Seriously project is coming to fruition with the official launch of its platform to defuse online hatred. Launched by the think tank «Renaissance numérique» (Digital Renaissance), the project is based on the website www.seriously.ong and a method for supporting internet users.
Online hate: a major social problem
To mark this launch, the think tank is publishing a note «Taking action against online hate in a collaborative society», which aims to decipher this difficult-to-understand phenomenon of online hate.

Seriously: a complementary tool to existing reporting mechanisms
The site www.seriously.ong, offers concrete arguments and behavioural advice to internet users, based on an intuitive journey built around three features:
- Factual data to objectify the debate and encourage critical thinking: key figures, studies, graphs, etc.; ;
- Expert advice to provide emotional and psychological support to users in order to take the heat out of the discussion;
- Resources adapted to digital format to help internet users illustrate their arguments: videos, images, etc.
An expert partner ecosystem
Drawing on its expertise in digital technology, the Renaissance Numérique think tank developed and implemented the method. To do so, it surrounded itself with a partner ecosystem composed of researchers and rights advocacy groups, specialists in these issues (view the list here) including the e-Enfance Association. The 11 January Fund and major internet platforms (Facebook, Google, Twitter) also contributed to its development.
