For the start of the 2020 school year, TikTok and the e-Enfance Association, which specialises in child protection on the internet, are raising awareness among younger users by reminding them of simple rules and TikTok features available to them for a peaceful and controlled digital life.
The summer period is ideal for creating videos, sharing and discovering a wealth of creative content online, particularly on TikTok.
Over the past few months, however, younger internet users may have forgotten the best practices to follow online.
That is why, from 21 to 27 September, TikTok and the’e-Childhood Association offer a educational quiz to raise awareness and promote prevention in order to remind platform users of the principles and reflexes to adopt for a safe, positive and controlled digital experience.
An educational quiz to learn and reinforce good online habits:
After raising users' awareness of cyberbullying issues and helping parents understand the platform TikTok by developing the TikTok Guide for parents, the e-Enfance Association and TikTok continue their commitment and cooperation to ensure a safe, positive and controlled online experience.
By adopting a fun and educational approach to online safety, the’e-Childhood Association and TikTok wish to continue the dialogue with users, particularly younger ones, so that they can take control of their online experience and their interactions with the community, regardless of the medium.
Whether it's online safety or digital wellbeing, we all have an active role to play.
That is why, from 21 to 27 September, The e-Enfance Association is taking to TikTok with a quiz accessible directly on the platform, designed to remind users of the right habits to adopt and the range of features available to them for a safe and controlled digital experience.
For example, they will be able to rediscover the functionality «Family Connection», which enables parents to support teenagers in their use of the platform; learn about certain features such as limiting comments under videos, thereby taking control of their interactions and content. They will also find advice and best practices for dealing with situations where they are victims or witnesses of cyberbullying.
TikTok has always taken a responsible approach to the online safety of its users, especially younger ones:
For them, TikTok created the Portal for Young People where they can find advice, all the security and digital wellbeing features available, and a wide range of resources.
Parents will find the information they need to better understand the platform and support teenagers as they explore the application by consulting The Portal for Parents. They can also download the TikTok Guide for free aimed at parents, produced in partnership with the’e-Childhood Association by clicking here.
This step-by-step guide helps them understand how the platform works, master its codes, and introduces them to the various security and privacy settings available to users.
TikTok becomes an official partner of the e-Enfance Association with the aim of promoting a responsible approach to digital life and taking action against online harassment.
Already involved alongside the’e-Childhood Association on numerous projects, TikTok is strengthening its commitment by becoming an official partner. Through this philanthropic initiative, TikTok is therefore committed to supporting the association in all its awareness-raising and prevention activities.
Recognised as being of public utility, the’e-Childhood Association has been the benchmark for the protection of minors on the Internet since 2005. It is supported by the Ministry of Education, the State Secretariat for Child Protection, the DILCRAH and the European Commission, as well as numerous private partners. The’e-Childhood Association offers interventions in schools, training on the risks and responsible use of the Internet, and operates the Net Ecoute national number (0800 200 000). It advocates an educational approach to online safety issues by providing users of platforms and the internet in general with the keys to a controlled and increasingly secure digital life.
As an official partner, TikTok is committed to working alongside the Association in its regional awareness-raising activities, particularly in schools, and affirms its desire to support its helpline, a unique service designed to protect minors on the Internet.
In addition to ongoing, constructive dialogue on online safety issues and the protection of younger users, TikTok will support initiatives led by the’e-Childhood Association through awareness campaigns on topics such as cyberbullying, for example.
