Safe Search feature – Free filter

The Google function SafeSearch to filter the results of its search engine by removing explicit content.

To register the activation of the SafeSearch function, you must have a Google account (or a GMAIL address).

When SafeSearch is enabled, the message «SafeSearch feature locked» appears in the top right corner of the search results page.

1 – Open your usual browser and go to the Google Search homepage. In the bottom right corner, click on Settings then Search parameters.

2 – On the page that opens, tick the option Activate SafeSearch. Scroll down and then click on Save. You must repeat this operation on each web browser you use and for each user profile defined on the computer. The browser must also be configured to accept cookies.

Please note that you can also lock SafeSearch to prevent others from disabling it. To do this, still in the search settings, click on the link Lock SafeSearch then confirm your choice. To reverse this setting, follow the same procedure and then click on the link. Unlock SafeSearch.

1 – Open the Google app on your Android smartphone or tablet. In the top left corner of the page, tap the icon with three horizontal bars, then tap Settings, Accounts and privacy.

2 – Scroll down to SafeSearch filter. Tick the box to activate SafeSearch. On newer versions of Google, this is not a tick box but a switch that you need to move. Untick the box to deactivate SafeSearch.

1 – Open the Google app, then tap the cog icon in the top-left corner of the home screen. If you have Google Now open, scroll down to return to the home screen.

2 – Tap SafeSearch, then select the Smart or Strict setting. Tap OK.
