Criticised after the US presidential election, Facebook is equipping itself with new tools to limit the spread of fake news on its network. Once again, the social network is relying on cooperation with press organisations to ensure the authenticity of the information circulating in its content.
Internet users will also be called upon to contribute, as the social network is adding a new command to the post reporting feature. Users who then wish to share the same link will see the following message: «Before sharing this link, you may want to know that independent fact-checkers dispute its accuracy.»
This measure complements the one taken a month ago aimed at cutting off advertising revenue from websites spreading fake news.
