Combating harassment
The social network Instagram has announced that it is testing two features designed to combat harassment. The objective: reduce the number of aggressive messages received on the platform. Users will also be given the option to block another user more “discreetly”.
Analysis of comments:
Instagram is testing its first tool aimed at analyse the content of comments in real time. If the comment is offensive, the author will be notified immediately: “Are you sure you want to post this message?”This feature would thus discourage users from posting offensive or harassing comments by giving them time to reflect on the nature of their remarks.

User restriction:
The second tool being tested by Instagram in the coming weeks will enable users to restrict a user. This means that a restricted user does not appear to be blocked. Their comments on the profile of the user who has “restricted” them will only be visible to themselves. Direct messages will be sent to the Instagram account's junk mail folder.

Making harassment more complex:
These features are designed to make harassment “less easy” on the social network.
“It is our responsibility to create a safe environment on Instagram. This has been an important priority for us for some time, and we continue to invest in better understanding and solving this issue,” says Instagram management.
The rollout of these features has not yet been announced. Stay tuned to our social media channels for more information:
