In a video from Figaro, Justine Atlan, managing director of the e-Enfance Association, warns parents about dangers of sharing photos of their children on the Internet and social media. She points out that social media networks are a particular breeding ground for sexual predators.
«Often, parents don't realise what could happen to the image of their child that they innocently posted online. Unfortunately, it's true that first, it may end up being found and retrieved by platforms shared by sexual predators or paedophiles, who are looking for images of children, which sometimes seem very ordinary […]. Then there is the matter of starting to build a digital life for your child. Full of images of him that he will not have chosen.»
Finally, she stresses that it is very important to improve the information provided to parents, «so that they are fully aware of their child's rights, the rights that may be opposed to them, and that’they cannot do whatever they want with their child ».
