20 November 2017 is International Children's Rights Day. Let us all unite for the cause of children around the world and for the right to education.
As part of this day, 119 – Allô Enfance en Danger (Hello Child in Danger), SNATED (National Helpline for Children in Danger) is announcing a new telephone service to manage emergencies at European level: 116 111.
The duties of 119:
- Prevention mission: to receive calls from children who are in danger or at risk, and from anyone else facing such situations, in order to help identify them and facilitate the protection of minors in danger.
- Transmission mission: to transmit information of concern regarding these children to the relevant departmental services: the units responsible for collecting information of concern (CRIP).
What is 116 111?
- All European countries have set up this helpline number, enabling any child in danger or anyone aware of a situation where children are in danger to call the same number regardless of which European country they are in. It will enable children travelling through Europe who know the European number to receive help when they arrive on French territory.
As of today, the team at 119-Allô Enfance en danger is ready to handle calls received on 116 111 with a view to continuously improving children's rights throughout the country.
Net Ecoute 3018, a toll-free number for child protection on the Internet operated by e-Enfance, is an official partner of 119 Allô enfance en Danger (119 Hello Child in Danger) to enable direct and immediate transfer of calls concerning children in danger.
