Historic rise in cyberbullying in 2020: «Self-esteem is destroyed in just a few clicks.» In this very unusual year, millions of students have been deprived of school and forced to stay at home for weeks on end. As a result, bullying at school has fallen, but cyberbullying has increased significantly. No face-to-face schooling meant more time spent in front of screens. On 16 March, due to a resurgence of Covid-19 cases across the country, President Emmanuel Macron announced the closure of nurseries, schools, colleges and high schools. This strict, nationwide lockdown lasted 55 days, during which time screens proved to be ubiquitous in the lives of many pupils.
