SUMMARY

Rogue-like games are still very popular among indie developers. This type of game allows players to evolve in a universe where death is permanent. Players are left to interpret their environment as they progress through the game. Although they start from scratch each time, they learn how enemies and platform elements work, etc. Players thus absorb information that will enable them to progress further with each new game.

It is sometimes possible to gain skills that are not lost with each game lost, so that the player can always progress. Full Metal Furies uses this mechanic.

Playable by one to four players, you must clear the levels you traverse to collect gold and unlock a whole host of equipment. At the end of each level, you return to the map to head to a new point of interest.  Enemies may be vulnerable to certain character classes, so you can switch between two characters on the fly (choose from the sentinel, nerd, hammer, sniper and many other strange classes). The game is also full of secrets that you'll have to work hard to uncover. When playing with others, death is less of a penalty, as it is possible to revive your comrades. A game over will send you back to the beginning of the adventure, but without affecting your power tree. And off you go again!

Visually, the pixel art style softens the edges, but the game still features plenty of executions. The tongue-in-cheek atmosphere is noticeable but could be misinterpreted by younger players. Children under the age of seven should therefore be kept away from the joystick.
