One in eight children worldwide has been exposed to sexual images in the past year.
This is revealed by a study of the‘Childlight Institute published on 27 May 2024. Justine Atlan, Chief Executive Officer of the Association was invited onto the set of France news to respond to this figure.
When we talk about children being exposed to sexual content, what does that mean? She replies:
“It's not always pornography or images received with consent. These are sometimes photos that produced by the young people themselves, that they will then s’exchange, or distribute to groups. This means that many minors are exposed to this content.”
She also addresses the issue of child pornography created from the’artificial intelligence and explains that this allows amateurs to make montages, unfortunately. very realistic, which combine images of real children and naked bodies.
She also points out that this content is completely illegal and that it is sometimes difficult to find any human trace of it.
