France 2 – 1 p.m. news — Report on an intervention at a secondary school

Every day, the contributors to the e-Enfance Association go in primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form colleges all over France.

Report from a secondary school in the Aisne region, where Thomas is working with a Year 9 class. Using imaginary accounts and messages, the facilitator elicits reactions from the pupils to different situations in order to encourage them to think about how such messages would affect them. Sadness, school phobia, suicide... The pupils say they were «shocked at how far it could go».

Most of these secondary school pupils admit to having witnessed bullying at school. While some «wanted to intervene but didn't dare to», one of the girls believes it is important to «go and see the adults, because we [children] don't really have any power».

According to Cloé Caron, head of the establishment «students now dare to talk about it».
