Our partner Point de contact, a service for reporting offensive content on the Internet (child pornography and incitement to racial hatred, among other things), presents its 2016 report.
A balance sheet marked by two trends:
- The increase in reports of child pornography content
- Decrease in terrorism-related reports
Increase in child pornography content:
+51% reports in 2016, +144% in two years: figures that demonstrate the urgent need for greater awareness and involvement on the part of public authorities and industry.
The report also highlights the urgent need to protect young girls: 86% of the victims are girls, compared to 7% boys, and 2 out of 5 victims are children under the age of 13.
«Since its creation in 1997, AFPI and its partners have been continuously committed to combating illegal content and protecting minors on the Internet. However, almost twenty years later, the proliferation of child pornography is more worrying than ever and raises questions about the effectiveness of the policies and measures implemented to date. This is a matter of urgency!» explains Anton-Maria Battesti, President of the AFPI (Contact Point operator).
Fewer reports related to terrorism
330 URLs reported in 2016 against 2674 last year. A very clear decrease in reported terrorist content, which undeniably and unfortunately varies depending on current events.
To continue the fight against child pornography on the Internet, the e-Enfance Association joined forces with the APFI appeal. to call for greater involvement from French stakeholders, both public and private.
