Some time ago, web professionals predicted a return to anonymity on the internet, with users fed up with the exploitation of their personal data.
Several applications have emerged, promising complete anonymity. The flagship application Secret offered a simple concept: express yourself on any topic without revealing your identity. Thanks to this, users were able to speak more freely.
Unfortunately, Secret took a completely different turn and became the best friend of harassers and defamers of all kinds. And this promising market quickly turned into a field of ruins. Learning from their mistakes, the founders of Secret have just announced its closure. The same is true for the Yik Yak app, which went a step further by blocking access to its service in secondary schools in an attempt to prevent bullying among young people.
