Brigitte Macron visits the e-Enfance Association

Brigitte Macron visits the headquarters of the e-Enfance Association to support the listeners of 3018, the new national helpline for young victims of digital violence and their parents.

As soon as she arrived on the platform, Brigitte Macron was able to grasp the scope of the new short number 3018. The numerous incoming requests ranged from cases of cyberbullying to issues related to parental control, revenge porn, webcam blackmail, early exposure to screens or pornography, and even dangerous solicitations or reports of online child prostitution.

After listening twice to a call from a 12-year-old girl who was a victim of cyberbullying via the dissemination of photos, she was able to follow a live chat with a 14-year-old teenager who was in great distress. This was an opportunity to present to Brigitte Macron the priority reporting mechanisms set up on 3018 with social networks, but also within the framework of agreements signed with the government platform Pharos (internet-reporting.gouv.fr) and 119-Children in danger.

She finally had the opportunity to talk with the team of listeners. Their daily work as operators on a telephone and chat platform specialising in online child protection is unique. They were able to discuss with Brigitte Macron their role in handling serious cases that require immediate intervention to report and remove content from social media, and possibly involve social services or the police.

The team was also able to promote its prevention mission by teaching young people who call them the right reflexes to report or configure their accounts. This mission is also illustrated to parents who are looking for information to better supervise their children's digital usage, particularly video gaming.

This third trip by Brigitte Macron alongside the e-Enfance Association since 2018 confirms her long-term commitment to a cause that is close to her heart. She praised the unique and practical intervention capabilities of 3018 in France, which are more necessary than ever in light of the increased tensions caused by successive lockdowns.
