According to a recent study conducted by Common Sense Media – involving more than 2,600 subjects aged 8 to 18 – American teenagers spend an average of 9 hours a day in front of a screen (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.), compared to 7 hours in the arms of Morpheus.
These nine hours are mainly spent listening to music online, watching videos, surfing media sites or chatting with friends on social media. It should also be noted that school-related Internet searches (for homework, presentations, etc.) are not included in these nine hours.
As the consumption habits of this younger generation differ from those of their elders, e-Enfance reminds us that it is necessary to supervise their digital practices, particularly in terms of connection time, and to protect the duration and quality of their sleep.
