With the launch of its Parent Centre, Snapchat is offering new features to enable parents, with their teenagers' consent, to better monitor their social interactions on the platform.
How does it work? First, the teenager must accept their parents' request to install parental controls. Once this invitation has been accepted, parents will have access to friends list of their teenager, but also to the list of people they have chatted with in the last 7 days. They will also be able to report any abuse directly to the platform. These features are not intended to allow parents to intrude on their children's privacy (they cannot see the content of the exchanges), but rather to better protect them in terms of their online social interactions.
Good to know: parents with multiple children can log in to multiple accounts on the Parent Centre.
