Blocking streams for individuals banned from Twitch

Share

Today, more and more streamers report cases of cyberbullying and inappropriate behaviour in live performances on Twitch.

For several months now, Twitch has been implementing new tools to combat cyberbullying. The platform has just announced a Blocking streams for banned users.

What will change?

Until now, when a viewer was banned from a live stream, they could not simply stop communicating in the chat with other people. Since September, a new optional tool has made it possible to ban a user from the chat and also from the live stream instantly (but not yet available on Replay).

Overall, this idea has been welcomed, but it has its limitations and could easily be circumvented, according to some internet users. Several well-known streamers on the platform have expressed their desire to implement an IP address ban, as is already done by some online games, or verification of the telephone number in order to’avoid the incessant creation of new accounts.
