On Instagram, it will now be more difficult to send a message to someone who does not follow you. To enhance the security of its private messaging service, the social network has introduced new restrictions:
- If a user does not follow you, you will only be able to send them one request for a medical certificate. It will no longer be possible to contact them until they accept your invitation.
- The Private message invitations may only contain text.. Images, videos, or voice notes can only be sent at a later stage.
The purpose of this feature is to’prevent users from receiving inappropriate or offensive photos and videos from strangers, particularly dick pics.
This feature has been in testing since June and is expected to arrive in France in the coming weeks.
This option will be operational only if you activate it : to do this, go to Settings and privacy → Messages and replies to stories → Email settings.
