As part of the launch of its «Parents» Campus", Meta France presented a series of features aimed at strengthening the protection of minors on its platforms, scheduled to come into effect in 2024.

For Instagram:

  • Prevent unwanted discussions by requiring an invitation to start a conversation with someone who does not follow you; ;
  • Encourage taking a break at night; ;
  • Enable a «silent mode» that will send an automatic reply to users attempting to contact you and prevent you from receiving notifications.;
  • Encourage teenagers to give their parents the login details for blocked accounts.

For Facebook:

  • Encourage users to «take a break». This feature is already available on Instagram.

For Messenger:

  • Know your child's daily screen time on Messenger; ;
  • View your child's account privacy settings (find out who they can chat with and who can view their stories).

Some of these new features will be integrated into the Meta Family Centre, a space for parents, where they can find resources to help them protect their child(ren) online.
